An official statement claims that Gandhi Godse-Ek Yudh depicts the struggle between Nathuram Godse and Mahatma Gandhi's two fundamentally opposing ideas. This historical biographical play promises to reintroduce history to modern society.
Given that both Gandhi and Godse had supporters in India, the script writers had to be very careful about how they presented the facts. Santoshi's final film, Phata Poster Nikla Hero, which debuted in 2013 and starred Shahid Kapoor, was released. A decade later, he made a comeback to the Bollywood industry.
